[Although Chris Brown's latest single is called "Poppin'," the title is a bit of a foregone conclusion for the teen singer. Ever since his self-titled debut dropped, he's rocked two Scream Tours, made his big-screen debut in "Stomp the Yard" and showed off some electrifying dance steps as a part of the James Brown tribute during the Grammy Awards last month.

And while Brown’s kept busy with a heavy slate of acting roles (see “Ne-Yo, Chris Brown Open Up About Stepping Up For ‘Stomp The Yard’ ” and ” ‘Christmas’ Keeps On Giving Join Chris Brown On Holiday Flick’s Set”) and just announced his latest film exclusively to MTV News (see “Movie File: Chris Brown, ‘Ocean’s Thirteen,’ Michelle Trachtenberg & More”), he said he’s definitely ready to return to music with his sophomore album, Exclusive, which is slated for release in August on Jive Records.

[He stomped the yard to big box-office bucks earlier this year and just wrapped his second movie, a holiday drama that will be in theaters "This Christmas." Now, chart-topping sensation Chris Brown will keep his burgeoning movie career strong with "Phenom," a basketball drama that will allow the 17-year-old to indulge in the third love of his life. "Basketball is my thing, other than singing and dancing, and that's what I'm gonna show the world," Brown told MTV News this week, revealing the movie info for the first time anywhere. "It's still [casting], and the director [is up in the air]. I’m trying to get ['Training Day' director] Antoine Fuqua, but there are so many different people we’re trying to pitch it to as far as the actors and director is concerned. It’s still up in the air. But I know we’re gonna start on it by the top of next year.” The Grammy-nominated R&B singer knows the word “phenom” all too well, so it seems natural that he’ll reunite with the makers of his first two films to star as a young baller on the rise. “[We] wanted to pick a movie that I could be comfortable with, and that I could really do something in it.” Brown expects his third feature film to begin shooting in early 2008 for a late ’08/ early ’09 release.
